Palluruthy is actually came from the Portuguese word ''Pallurt'' also known as palluruthy is came from the word "palluva thuruth".

Palluruthy is one of the earlier panchayats of Kerala that was amalgamated with other panchayats during the formation of Kochi corporation.

Palluruthy is a legislative assembly of kerala state. The region is famous for its temples, banyan trees and lotus ponds. Great temples like ‘Azhakiya kavu bhagavathy’ and ‘Sree bhavaneeshwara temples’ are very famous.
